Marie E. Backus age 60 of Phelps passed away Monday (July 16, 2012) at Rochester General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Keeping with her wishes, visitation will not be observed. A Memorial service will be held at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main Street in Sodus, NY at 1PM on Saturday. Interment will be at the Ridge Chapel Cemetery in Williamson. Close friends and family may arrive at noon.

Marie was born February 12, 1952 in Clifton Springs, the Daughter of Emery and Mildred Campbell. She worked as a nurses’ aid in various nursing homes and was loved by her co-workers.

She is survived by her husband, Rodger of 26 years; father; Emery; daughter, Emily (Doug); grandchildren, Brandon, Connor, Tyler and Parker; sister, Sue (Don); brothers, Paul (Kathy), Roger, Mike (Laura) and David (Coreen); aunts, uncles and cousins; many nieces and nephews.
