Betty L. Hunt-Garcia
June 21, 1956 – August 3, 2026
Betty L. Hunt-Garcia, 70, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 21, 1956, in Lyons, New York, to the late Clyde and Mary (Morgan) Hunt.
Betty lived a life full of love, laughter, and the simple joys that brought people together. She had a heart that naturally cared for others and found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family. Her home was a place where memories were made, often beginning with her familiar words, "Everybody's home—let's make cookies!" Those moments became treasured traditions that her family will carry with them forever.
She was rarely in front of the camera because she was usually the one behind it, making sure every birthday, holiday, vacation, and ordinary day was remembered. She loved to spoil her grandchildren, finding little adventures, or taking her youngest granddaughter to return bottles just to earn a few extra dollars together.
Betty was full of surprises. She could lace up a pair of roller blades and spend summer days skating with her grandkids, nieces, and her beloved dogs, Conan and Phantom, who were always faithfully by her side. She had a creative spirit and wasn't afraid to tackle a project herself. If something needed fixing, Betty was going to give it her best shot before asking for help.
She also had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. She loved sharing a good joke, enjoyed a good smoke, and had a way of making people laugh when they needed it the most and the words she always shared when life felt overwhelming: "Don't stress it." It was her way of reminding everyone to take things as they came, find peace where they could, and not let the little things steal their joy.
Betty leaves behind her loving husband of 51 years, Luis Garcia; her children, Claudy and Jackie Garcia; her sisters, Barb LaBrake and Diane Hunt; her brother, Clyde Hunt; her grandchildren, Jazavier "Bebo" Garcia, Janiah Lawrence, and Salena Lawrence; several cherished great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Hunt, and her brothers, Glen Hunt and Brian Hunt.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty's life on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main Street, Sodus, NY 14551. A funeral service will immediately follow.
